This Morning Outside

by Diane Porter

July 4, 2009
At the dead snag of an elm that once lived at Birdwatching Dot Com
Fairfield, Iowa

When the dead elm near the Birdwatching Dot Com store sloughed off its major boughs, all that was left was a tall snag, higher than a two-story house.

Every bird finds a use for it. The red-bellied woodpecker perches on the top to check out the feeding area. Then he launches himself toward the suet feeder.
