This Morning Outside

by Diane Porter

Tending his trees at Birdwatching Dot Com

Downy woodpeckers are only the size of sparrows, with small beaks. But they do a great job of poking into the bark of trees to get at insects working inside the tree. They must be pretty successful, because I see a lot of them on my morning walk through the woods.
