This Morning Outside

Spring is over, and fewer birds are singing now than just a few weeks ago. But every morning a gray catbird holds forth from the yew by the corner of the house. His song is scratchy but varied. The more I listen, the more I love it. And now and then he utters the distinct meow that gives him his name.
