This Morning Outside

by Diane Porter

October 24, 2010
Neal Smith NWR
Prairie City, Iowa

This morning at Neal Smith NWR, in central Iowa, four Le Conte's Sparrows came to the edge of a brush pile for a good look at the birders who were looking back at them. Le Conte's is a rare and declining North American species, one who is dependent on grassland habitat.
