This Morning Outside

Perhaps it has something to do with the astonishingly warm winter we've been experiencing in Iowa, but the American Woodcocks came back earlier than I've ever seen them before.

They're a delight to all who like to go out at the barest glimmer of dawn and listen for their buzzy peent on the ground or their celestial twitterings overhead. Seldom do we get to see them walking out in the noonday sun, like this one.
