Binoculars of NotePentax DCF EDHigh-end Binocular Round-up, 2008by Michael and Diane Porter Our survey of top binoculars (High-end Binoculars Round-up, Bird Watcher's Digest, September, 2008) included the Pentax DCF ED binocular. Costing half as much as the most expensive binoculars in our 2008 survey, the Pentax DCF EDs have extremely sharp and bright optics. Pentax's "Extra Low Dispersion" glass, which incorporates the rare-earth element Lanthanum, provides pure colors and sharp images. Take a close look The Pentax beat everything else in close focus. The 8x32 model focused down to an amazing 4.9 feet. The DCF ED also has great eye relief for glasses wearers. The 8x43 model has the longest eye relief (22mm) in the survey. (See the Ratings Chart.) In the image quality column, the DCF ED lost a few points because some other binoculars had a wider field of view. However considering the moderate price, our judges deemed the Pentax DCF ED to be an excellent value. Warranty — the promise is forever The Pentax No-worry lifetime warranty provides repair for a flat fee of $19.95 for any accidental damage. The warranty is not transferable. Available models The binocular is available in 8x43, 10x43, 10x50, and 8x32. |
